DOVER - A Rochester man has been indicted on second-degree and criminal threatening charges for allegedly strangling a woman and threatening her with a knife in an incident that occurred in November.
Bienvenido Perez, 56, of 21 Sampson Road, is said to have caused the woman to have impeded breathing by "applying pressure" to the victim's neck on Nov. 11 in Rochester.
Further, Perez is said to have intended to "by physical conduct purposely place or attempt to place (the victim) in fear of imminent bodily injury or physical contact by brandishing a knife at (the victim) while threatening to stab her," court records allege.
Both charges are Class B felonies that carry maximum prison terms of seven years apiece.
The Strafford County grand jury indictments were handed down on Jan. 18 and released last week.
An indictment is not an indication of guilt, only that enough evidence has been presented to warrant a trial.
