DOVER - A Rochester man arrested for being a habitual offender twice in eight months pleaded guilty to both charges on Tuesday in Strafford Superior Court.
Dustin W. Demanche, 33, of 160 Autumn St., Rochester, will spend 30 days in county jail as part of a plea deal worked out with prosecutors.
Demanche was arrested as a habitual offender in Dover on April 7, 2022 and again in Dover on Jan. 5.
Strafford County Attorney Kathryn Smykowski said the 30-day sentence was in connection with April 2022 charge, while the January charge resulted in a one- to two-year sentence fully suspended if he remains on good behavior.
Habitual offender charges can result in three and a half to seven year prison sentence. Habitual offender designation results from a driver committing a large number of motor vehicle infractions.
