City man named marshal's Fugitive of Week arrested

CONCORD, N.H. - A Rochester man featured as last week's "Fugitive of the Week" was captured on Tuesday by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force while hiding in a closet of a Rochester home.

Christopher Emmons, 40, was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the Strafford Superior Court for probation violations. after being convicted and sentenced for second degree assault.

As part of the U.S. Marshals fugitive investigation, Emmons was featured as the "Fugitive of the Week" on Jan. 11.

The "Fugitive of the Week" is often aired on WTPL-FM, WMUR-TV, The Union Leader, The Nashua Telegraph, The Patch, Foster's Daily Democrat, Manchester Information, The Manchester Ink Link and The Lebanon Voice and prominently featured on the internet.

The "Fugitive of the Week" has been a very successful tool that has resulted in the location and arrest of numerous fugitives since its implementation in 2007. Additionally, the "Fugitive of the Week" is distributed statewide to all law enforcement officers.

After receiving multiple anonymous tips pointing to a residence on Four Rod Road, members of the New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force checked the residence early this morning. During a search of the home, Emmons was located hiding inside of a bedroom closet. Emmons was arrested without incident and transported to the Strafford County Jail for processing and holding pending his initial court appearance.

This arrest was made by the cooperative effort of several members of the US Marshal's, NH Joint Fugitive Task Force, including; the Strafford, Hillsborough, Rockingham, Belknap County Sheriff's Offices, along with deputy U.S. Marshals.
