ROCHESTER - A Rochester man pleaded guilty in federal court on Tuesday to one count of possessing child pornography.

The plea by Cory Danis, 28, sets the stage for a sentencing hearing on Dec. 4.

According to court documents and statements made during the change of plea hearing, in 2015 the FBI was contacted by a New York firm that was in the business of producing canvas prints from photographs.

The firm had received a photograph of a minor in a sexually explicit pose as part of an order for a canvas print of the image. The image was later identified as a photo generated in Lithuania.

The firm provided the FBI with contact information for the customer.

Further investigation by the FBI resulted in the identification of Danis as the customer who possessed the image that was sent to the New York business and who ordered the canvas print.

As part of the plea deal, Danis faces a sentence of up to 20 years in prison for possessing eight pornographic images of children.
