ROCHESTER - The Rochester City Clerk and Public Information Office have put together a Voter's Guide for the upcoming Municipal Election on Nov. 2.

According to City Clerk, Kelly Walters, voter turnout for municipal elections is traditionally lower compared to high profile national elections.

"Most voters only turnout for presidential elections," said Walters. "We'd like to raise awareness and encourage more voters to participate in the Municipal Election this year. This is the election that directly impacts residents."

Walters points to the city's new online Voter's Guide as a way to help new voters find out more information, determine their ward, and find polling locations.

"We want to make it as easy as possible for current voters and new voters to get the information they need to participate effectively," Walters continued. "It can feel intimidating if you've never voted before and we want to make it as accessible as possible to everyone."

Public Information Manager Matt Wyatt describes voting in the Municipal Election as one of the most important things a citizen can do to make a difference in Rochester. Wyatt contrasts the act of voting to debating local issues on social media. "One has an immediate effect and the other drops in the feed after a day or two," said Wyatt.

The Municipal Election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 2. Visit www.RochesterNH.net/Vote to see the Voter's Guide.

The City Clerk's Office is located in City Hall, 31 Wakefield Street, Rochester, NH 03867, open Monday through Friday, 8-5pm. Call (603) 332-2130 or visit RochesterNH.net > Departments > City Clerk & Elections for inquires and additional information.
