ROCHESTER - With Rochester area residents waking up to wind chills below zero today and continued frigid temps in store during Sunday and Monday's snowstorm, city officials have already decided to shut down most of government on Monday.
Essential services, however, will be available from fire, police and ambulance.
In addition, the Rochester Police Department lobby will be open throughout the storm, while the city's fire chief will determine if an emergency shelter is needed at Rochester Middle School.
And as The Rochester Voice announced on Friday, the Willand Warming Center has been activated straight through Monday at 9 a.m.
Also, due to the impending storm, Waste Management will close the Turnkey Landfill and Residential Drop-Off on Monday.
Turnkey Landfill will resume regular operations on Tuesday, and will offer extended hours on Saturday, Jan. 31, from 7 a.m.-2 p.m.
Meanwhile, a citywide parking ban starts Sunday at 10 p.m. through 7 a.m. on Monday.
During this time, no vehicles without an exemption permit may be parked on city streets or in municipal parking lots. For general inquiries and concerns regarding the parking ban, contact the Department of Public Works at (603) 332-4096.
Rochester Rec & Arena programs will also be canceled on Monday.
As of today the Rochester School Dept. has made no official announcement on whether school will be canceled on Monday or if it might be a remote learning day.
