City woman hit in crosswalk remains in critical condition

ROCHESTER - A city woman who suffered a serious head injury on Sunday when she was struck by a vehicle in the city's downtown remains in critical condition today, according to a hospital spokesman.

Police say the accident occurred around 8 a.m. in the area of Strafford Square when a 1998 Subaru Forester driven by George Terry, 52 of Rochester, was traveling south on North Main Street and struck the pedestrian, who was in a crosswalk.

Diane Felts, 62, was found unconscious by first responders and transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with what were described as serious and life threatening injuries. Hospital spokesperson Lynn Robbins said Felts was in critical condition.

Strafford Square is located at the intersection of North Main, Walnut and Washington streets.

The Strafford County Regional Technical Accident Reconstruction Team responded to assist with the scene and accident investigation.
