LEBANON - Former selectman and assistant rescue chief Jason Cole told The Lebanon Voice on Thursday that he never received any town benefits while selectman, including either holiday or vacation pay.

"I have never had town insurance as I have always had insurance on my own," he stated in an email. In answer to a return email on whether he had gotten any benefits whatsoever, he replied, "None."

The Lebanon Voice's Right to Know request for records indicating where any selectman had been paid benefits in 2010 was denied last week, with Right to Know personnel saying that two selectmen who had received benefits were also town employees and therefore, the records were privileged as informed by town attorneys.

Transfer Station manager Ronal Patch and Cole were the only two on the board in 2010 who worked for the town. Former selectman Robert Frizzell was on the board and worked as a contractor for the town but was not an employee.

Lebanon Selectman Royce Heath said that one selectman in 2010 received town benefits at last month's public hearing on the ballot, which drew The Lebanon Voice Right to Know request.
