Concord man gets DWI after rear-ending trooper's cruiser

CONCORD - A Concord man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after smashing into a New Hampshire State Police cruiser on Tuesday.

The crash occurred around 7:45 p.m. when the trooper on patrol on Interstate 93 in Concord exited south at Exit 12N and was yielding at the sign at the end of the off-ramp to Route 3A when a 2022 Ford Explorer rear-ended the Trooper's cruiser.

The driver of the Ford, identified as Richard Talbot, 63, of Concord, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Talbot was released on personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in Concord District Court on April 10.

Talbot and the Trooper were evaluated at the scene by EMS personnel and determined to be uninjured. The Trooper's K-9 partner, Soka, who was in the car at the time of the crash, also was not hurt.
