Cornish man, 72, drowns after falling off homemade bridge into brook

CORNISH - An elderly Cornish man is thought to have drowned on Tuesday when he fell into Mill Brook, say State Police Marine Patrol who responded earlier today to an address where the man had lived.
Members of the Cornish Fire Rescue, Cornish Police, State Police and Troop C and Marine Patrol Units all responded to the scene.
An investigation revealed that the 72-year-old property owner was attempting to traverse a homemade bridge across the brook on Tuesday when he lost his footing, fell about eight feet into the rocky water and drowned. The investigation continues, but no foul play is not suspected.
The man's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
