CONCORD - Local numbers showed an overall drop in current COVID-19 cases on Saturday, but the fatal consequences linked to the virus continued to mount.

DHHS announced 477 new positive test results for COVID-19, for a current PCR test positivity rate of 2.5 percent, which is also dramatically down from just a few weeks ago.

The newly identified cases include 75 minors and 38 from Strafford County.

Neighboring counties showed 143 new cases in Rockingham and seven in Carroll.

Local current case numbers on Saturday showed Rochester with 103, Dover with 97, Somersworth down to 43, Barrington at 23, Farmington at 15, Strafford with 14 and Milton with eight. Hospitalizations statewide also dropped to 183.

DHHS also announced eight additional deaths related to COVID-19, including a woman over 60 from Strafford County and a man from Cheshire County who was under 60.
