ROCHESTER - Two of the prominent graphic artists who helped launch the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles into a generation of stardom were on hand signing TMNT paraphernalia and prints at Jetpack Comics on North Main Street on Saturday.

Jim Lawson of Chesterfield, Mass., and Steven Lavigne of Wells, Maine, greeted TMNT lovers and sold signed prints of their work for folks looking for that special Christmas gift for Ninja Turtle fans in their family.

"It's always fun to come out and talk to fans," said Lawson, who like Lavigne worked for Mirage Studios from the mid-80s till Viacom bought the rights in 2009.

Lawson worked mostly as an inker but also did full artwork as well, while Lavigne did lettering and coloring for the heroic foursome.

Lawson is also known as the writer and artist of the black-and white-comic series Paleo: Tales of the Late Cretaceous.

Lavigne is the creator of Cudley the Cowlick, Sgt. Bananas, and Stump and Sling.

Since the sale to Viacom both have ended their creative work with the Turtles, but continue to attend comic cons and signings throughout the country.
