Craig Simmons ... served in Army over 30 years; at 85

GONIC - Craig A. Simmons, 85 passed away peacefully Thursday May 21, 2026, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital following a period of declining health surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Damariscotta, Maine, the son of Helen and Wilmer Simmons.

He worked for many years in the carpenter's union. He served in the US Army and Army Reserves for over thirty years retiring as a Command Sargent Major.

He was predeceased by his loving wife Lorraine Bagley Simmons and son Gary Dow.

Survivors include his children Craig Simmons Jr, Daniel Simmons, Derrick Simmons, Leo Dow, Robin Dow and her spouse Clayton, Roxanne Knapp and her partner David Frenette. His eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren who he enjoyed making memories with. He lived with his granddaughter Jami Dow and great grandson Brandon Dow (BD).

Military Honor service will be at 2:00 on June 14th at the American Legion on Eastern Ave in Rochester NH with a celebration of life to follow.
