CONCORD - The number of local cases of COVID-19 continue to drop dramatically in Dover, which is now down to just 14 cases after listing 51 a week ago, while Rochester remain higher at 24 with seven fewer than last Saturday.

Other local towns' number of current cases as of Satuday are: Barrington, 10; Somersworth, 22; and Farmington, 10. Milton has none. Maine does not list cases by town so Lebanon's count is unknown.

Meanwhile, experts have said all along that men fare worse than women when it comes to COVID-19 outcomes, but it also appears that women are more likely to contract the disease.

The state's latest weekly summary report released on Monday shows that 2006 women have tested positive representing about 55 percent of all cases, while 1,637 men have tested positive, about 45 percent.

Meanwhile the state's 92 male deaths from COVID represent around 53 percent of fatalities compared to 80 among women at almost 47 percent.

The weekly summary report also shows that almost 90 percent of victims are either in their 70s or 80s (and older). As has been previously reported, about 80 percent of all victims resided in elderly congregate living facilities like nursing homes.

On Saturday state DHHS officials recorded 77 new positive cases including three under the age of 18.

Similar to the latest weekly summary, 55 percent of the new cases were among women.

Four new cases were identified in Strafford County, while the two hardest hit counties of Rockingham and Hillsborough accounted for 61.

Eleven new hospitalized cases were also identified, bringing the current total to 93 percent, about 20 percent lower that when hospitalizations hit their peak a couple of weeks ago.

DHHS also announced four additional deaths related to COVID-19, all from Hillsborough County, three men including one under 60; and one woman 60 or older.

The number of Granite Staters being monitored swelled to 4,100 after first eclipsing the 4,000 mark on Thursday.
