WAREHAM, Mass. - David Jones Thorp Jr. died at the age of 77 on May 11, 2026, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River following a period of failing health.
David was born on May 6, 1949, in Boston, the son of David Jones Thorp Sr. and Lalla Sargent Thorp.
David grew up in Hingham and graduated from Hingham (Mass.) High School in 1967. He went on to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated from Franklin Pierce College in Rindge, N.H.
David worked as a manager and engineer for various engineering firms including Camp Dresser & McKee and Briggs Engineering. He also worked many years as a part-time investigator for a detective agency. Earlier in his career he worked for General Aviation and Asplundh Tree Cutters.
David enjoyed skiing, watching the New England Patriots and betting on his weekly pro football pools.
He is survived by his sister, Harriett Bosy and her husband, Brian Bosy, of Hull; his brother, Harrison Thorp of Lebanon, Maine; his niece, Sara Thorp of Alton, N.H.; his nephews, Charles Thorp of New Jersey and Spencer Thorp of Lebanon; and his longtime partner, Linda Fobert of Wareham. He also leaves behind many cousins.

David was predeceased by his parents.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
