Dealership savors giving back to city schools; teacher, staff will savor it, too

Employees of Hilltop Chevrolet will be delivering lunches to all Rochester Public Schools staff next week as a thank you for the work they've done throughout the pandemic, according to a press release sent out yesterday by the Rochester School Department.

The deliveries will be split up between two days, with meals being delivered to staff at the district's eight elementary schools on Monday and to teachers at the Rochester Middle School and Spaulding High School on Tuesday.

Hilltop Chevrolet has collaborated with the city in the past for dozens of athletic and community events, but this is the first event of this size that they are working on, the release noted. After the community rallied to support the dealership this past summer after a fire broke out at their facility, Currier said they wanted to pay it forward.

The Roundabout Diner will be creating lunches on both days for teachers via its catering vans, which will be parked outside of the district's central offices. Employees from Hilltop Chevrolet will bring the meals the Roundabout Diner is known for - such as sandwiches, rollups, fruit, homemade hummus, cookies, cupcakes and chips - to each of the schools during the normal lunch time for teachers.

Favorite Foods in Somersworth and Saunders Fruit and Produce in Somersworth also assisted with the food purchasing for the event.

"It's a real thank you mission for some unsung heroes, the teachers. We talk about first responders, but we also need to recognize the teachers and what they do each and every day," Currier said. "We are lucky to have such great partners, who are making sure everyone is taken care of. It's been a tough time for so many people and we're blessed that we're able to do this. As a family owned business, we know the difference giving back to the community can make and always try to be a good neighbor."
