Death rate down, vaccinations up, but a troubling spring spike persists

CONCORD - Even as vaccinations continue to ramp up to include more and more of New Hampshire's population and the official state death rate has dropped to 1 percent, Granite Staters are seeing a concerning uptick in cases as we head toward April.

On Sunday DHHS announced 301 new positive test results for COVID-19, including 33 under the age of 18 and 30 from Strafford County.

DHHS also announced two additional deaths related to COVID-19, both over 60.

Local current case numbers show Dover at 69, Rochester at 48, Somersworth at 31, Barrington at 12, Farmington at 10, Milton at 8 and Strafford at 6.

The death rate, meanwhile, which has stood at 2 percent for months, officially dropped to 1 percent on Thursday.

Meanwhile, total current cases statewide have increased near 20 percent in the past 10 days, from 2,340 on March 18 to 2,766 on Sunday.
