Deerfield man nabbed on drug, habitual offender charges after DWI crash

ROCHESTER - A Deerfield man was charged for driving drunk while being a habitual offender on Sunday after his jeep crashed on Hussey Hill Road.

The single-vehicle crash occurred in the area of 20 Hussey Hill Road around 10:25 a.m. when police say Heath Freeman, 40, was driving a 2012 Jeep Wrangler southeast when the Jeep went off the road, glanced off a utility pole and rolled over.

Freeman was taken into police custody on scene. He was charged with operating as a habitual offender, possession of drugs and DWI subsequent offense. Freeman was bailed on personal recognizance pending his arraignment at Strafford County Superior Court later this month.

Habitual offender status is the result of incurring a significant number of moving violations including anything from speeding to reckless driving to DWI.

Violation is a Class B felony with a maximum prison sentence of seven years.
