ROCHESTER - A teenager from Deerfield was seriously injured Wednesday morning when police say he rear-ended a stopped box truck near the Rochester Crossing.

The crash occurred around 8:20 a.m. when a 2017 T370 refrigeration truck, driven by Jonathan Yeo, 42, of Franklin, was traveling westbound on Washington Street and had stopped at the traffic lights waiting to turn left into Rochester Crossing.

As Yeo waited at the light, a 2008 Hyundai Elantra, driven by Cameron Clarke, 18, who was also traveling westbound, rear-ended the stopped truck.

Rochester Fire had to use their extraction tool to free Clarke, who was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with what were described as serious, but nonlife threatening injuries.

Yeo and a passenger in his truck were not injured.

Washington Street westbound had to be closed during the investigation, but eastbound lanes into town remained open. The roadway was fully opened around 12:30 p.m.

Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
