LEBANON - Five people were injured, two seriously, in an early morning rollover crash today on Depot Road.

The accident occurred around 1:30 a.m. in the area of 137 Depot Road when a 2010 Nissan Versa left the roadway, rolled over several times and came to rest in the front yard of a home, according to a Lebanon Rescue press release.

While rolling over the car apparently struck a tree stump, tearing it out of the ground and propelling it about 50 feet from where it had been unearthed, the release noted.

One of the most seriously injured, an 18-year-old female from Dover, N.H., who was driving, was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland.

The other front-seat passenger, an 18-year-old female from Sanford, also suffered what were described as serious injuries. She was taken to Goodall Hospital in Sanford.

The rear-seat passengers, two males and a female from Sanford ranging in age from 18 to 22, all suffered minor injuries and were transported to Goodall Hospital.

None of the passengers were wearing their seat belts, adding to the severity of the injuries, Assistant Rescue Chief Jason Cole said.

When first responders arrived, the injured were all out of the car and had been given shelter inside a nearby home.

Responding to the incident were two Lebanon ambulances, a Lebanon Rescue Command truck, a fire engine and a fire squad van. The Maine State Police also responded.

The Lebanon Highway Department was called to the scene to help clean up snow and crash debris.

The car was destroyed and towed from the scene.

The accident is under investigation by Maine State Police.
