ROCHESTER - Longtime Rochester barber Dennis Hebert said he's recovering slowly from a violent attack he suffered in his home last week, but said his injuries haven't kept him from cutting hair at his Milton Road barbershop.
"I've got two black eyes, but I've still been coming to work," he said on Wednesday.
Hebert said he was sitting on his couch last Friday around 8 p.m. when an intruder came in to the residential quarters that adjoin his shop and crashed hard-packed ice and snow down on his head.
He said he never lost consciousness, but when he got up the assailant had fled with an undisclosed amount of money Hebert had in his possession.
Police responded and used a K-9 track to try to find the suspect, but the scent went cold.
Hebert said police found some cash in a nearby Dunkin' Donuts parking lot that the suspect may have dropped as they fled.
Rochester Police Capt. Jason Thomas said on Monday that police have collected evidence at the scene, including some that led them to believe a woman may have been involved in the robbery.
Thomas added police haven't ruled out there may be multiple suspects as well.
Because the snow was used as a weapon, Thomas said the suspect could face Class B felony charges punishable by up to seven years in state prison.
