SPRINGVALE - Three days after a body was found in the Mousam River less than a quarter mile from downtown Springvale, Sanford Police remain tight-lipped as to the dead man’s identity or manner of death.

The body was found Friday in the water somewhere between the Mill Street dam and Mill Street.

An employee at a Springvale business said she’d heard police had found a body in the water Friday night, but knew nothing else about it.

A Sanford Police Officer on Sunday said officials had nothing else to release and beyond the short press bulletin that was sent out on Saturday, no other details were available.

The man is reported to have been in his late 40s or early 50s.

His body was taken to the state’s medical examiner’s office on Saturday.

Detectives are working the case and attempting to identify the body, the press release states.
