ROCHESTER - While today's DHHS state map shows Rochester with eight current COVID cases, Deputy Fire Chief Tim Wilder - filling in on Chief Mark Klose's EOC duties while he's on vacation - said on Tuesday there are no current cases here. Discrepancies between local and state numbers have been showing discrepancies on an ongoing basis.

The discrepancies are important as some Rochester City Council members on Tuesday pointed to the city as being the hot spot in the county when referencing policy making strategies regarding COVID-19.

When The Rochester Voice spoke with Klose last week he reported no current cases as proved by a list he gets daily from Concord that shows addresses where there are people being monitored for suspected virus infection; he said no city addresses were currently on the list.

Meanwhile, any self-employed individuals impacted financially by COVID-19 are reminded they can go to revenue.nh.gov to apply for a chunk of CARES ACT money. Applications for the money must be completed and submitted by 4 p.m. on July 17.

In Concord on Wednesday state health officials announced 20 new positive test results for COVID-19, a quarter of which are under the age of 18.

One new hospitalized case was identified, while current hospitalizations dropped to another new low at just 22.

DHHS also announced two additional deaths related to COVID-19, both Hillsborough County women 60 or over.
