Donald "Brooksey" Brooks, 56, died from respiratory failure on March 10, 2023. Born on Sept. 6, 1966, in Rochester, he was the son of Donald Brooks Sr. and Sharon Ann Ray (Hall). Donnie was a lifelong resident of Rochester except for a short time when he lived in California as a child.

Donnie graduated from Spaulding High School, Class of 1984. He formed many lifelong friendships in High School. Donnie was very social and also met many people as a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Rochester. He can be remembered by his nickname "Brooksey." Donnie enjoyed rock music especially the radio station WHEB, motorcycles, ocean swimming and body surfing, fishing, hunting, and going up to camp. He was an avid outdoorsman. Donnie also enjoyed participating in events at the Legion, playing Keno and Queen of Hearts, and occasionally dancing. Other memories of Donnie include lighting the cannon on 4th of July, unicycling champion, and wheelie extraordinaire.

Donnie is predeceased by his parents. Surviving family members are his daughter Courtney Fiske and her husband John of San Diego, Calif., his son Stephen Brooks and his fiancé Autumn Lurvey of Lebanon, Maine; and four grandchildren: Johnny Fiske, Charlie Fiske, Silas Brooks, and Peter Fiske; his stepfather John Ray of Rochester; two stepsisters, Shari Ray Dupra and Cindy Callahan; one half brother, Scott Brooks; two aunts, Patricia Gustavson (Hall) and Kathy Hall; one uncle, Peter Brooks; and many cousins.
