Donald 'Don' Young ... longtime school custodian; at 79

Donald "Don" Young, 79, became another one of God's angels on July 1, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Don was born Aug. 30, 1943, in Haverhill, Mass., to Edward and Gladys (Paris) Young.

Don proudly served in the Army and was honorably discharged in 1957. He then had a couple jobs before he found his true career as a custodian. Don worked for Haverhill public school for over 20 years and then at Saint Thomas school in Sanford, Maine, for a couple years before he retired. He was able to retire doing a job he loved.

Through the years, Don enjoyed camping, going to the beach with his wife Linda, taking care of his yard, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Don will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years Linda Young of Lebanon, Maine, son Brian Young of Haverhill, daughters Christine Young of Lebanon, Melissa Daly of Orlando, Fla, Grandchildren Tristan Young of Hudson, N.H., Brendan Young of Atkinson, N.H., Johnathan Emmons of Lebanon, Morgan "Poopha" Matzke of Lebanon, and Makayla-Lynn Emmons of Orlando, and 2 Great grandchildren Bennett and Callan. Several sister-in-law's and friends.

Don was predeceased by his parents Edward and Gladys (Paris) Young, infant son Donald R. Young Jr, brothers Edward Young and Ernie Young.
