DOVER - The Children's Museum of New Hampshire in Dover is open for play now, with limited hours and plenty of safety precautions. The Museum is offering Gift Memberships for purchase, as well as individual Admission Passes, and even Holiday Gift Making Kits.
Purchasing a Membership to a Children's Museum during a pandemic might not sound like it makes a lot of sense but there are several good reasons to look into it.
"The Museum is open now Thursdays through Saturdays with two timed play sessions per day from 9-11:30 a.m. or 1-3:30 p.m.," shared CMNH President Jane Bard. "We limit each session to only 50 visitors, which is well below even 10 percent of our capacity, which would be 250 visitors. Everyone who visits and is over the age of 24 months is required to wear a mask, we clean all surfaces and museum props before and after each session, and we have so many places to clean your hands including new hand sanitizer stations throughout the museum. We are doing everything within our power to keep our staff and visitors safe, and I think we've done a good job."
In addition to the museum being a safe place to visit, there are other reasons to consider giving a gift membership. "When you gift someone a CMNH Membership, of any level, that membership doesn't become active until the first time they use it," said Bard. "So families can do their research about what we offer, look at our safety procedures, etc, and decide for themselves when they are ready to give us a try."
Gift Memberships and Admission Passes help the Children's Museum of New Hampshire to slow the loss of revenue due to COVID19. "Our income from admissions and memberships used to be about 60 percent of our revenue, but we're now relying more heavily on grants and donations and our 'earned' revenue is down to 13 percent," said Bard. "So when you purchase passes or memberships, you are really making an investment in our future as well as giving a year of hands-on play to the kids in your life."
There are three Membership levels and costs range from $90 to $145, and guest options can be added to any level for only $20 per guest. Memberships or Admission Passes can be purchased online at https://www.childrens-museum.org/membership/families
Another holiday gift from the Museum is their special Holiday Gift Making Kits. These kits, for ages 3.5 to 12, include 6 projects that kids can craft into holiday gifts, as well as one extra craft just for them. Order them online and pick them up at the museum. Price for these kits is $40 for Members or $45 for non-members. "We're also offering Mini Holiday Gift Making Kits for sale in our Museum Shop with 3 crafts for only $20 for Members or $25 for non-members," said Bard. Projects include painting and arranging a centerpiece, making a static electricity ornament, designing a shrink art keychain or necklace, making a hanging banner, and decoupaging a photo frame.
