DOVER - A Dover man has been arrested in the alleged sexual assault of a 16-year-old female.

Joseph Levire, 51, of 25 George St., was charged with two counts of sexual assault, both Class A misdemeanors.

The charges against Levire accuse him of sexually assaulting the victim at his residence on July 10.

Dover Police began the investigation after receiving a report about the incident the same day.

As a result of information gathered by responding patrol officers, and follow-up investigations by the DPD's Special Investigations Unit, detectives obtained a warrant charging Levire.

Levire was arrested without incident at his residence around 6:45 p.m. on Monday and held without bail pending an arraignment today at Strafford County Superior Court.
