DOVER - Dover Police announced today that the department will begin accepting names of needy families residing in Dover for the Annual Christmas Basket Program starting Nov. 26.

The Police Department sponsors this program each December to provide a Christmas dinner to families in Dover. Last year, 125 baskets of food were distributed to families throughout the community. In addition, a large quantity of food was provided to the Dover Children's Home, and My Friend's Place.

In order to make this program a success, donations are needed from the community. Nonperishable food items, canned goods, or monetary donations will be accepted at the Dover Police Department, 46 Chestnut Street (checks should be made payable to Dover Police Charities).

Anyone who cannot arrange for delivery to the police station may call 742-4646 and pick up will be arranged. Volunteers from the Dover Police Department will prepare and deliver the baskets on Dec. 22.
