DOVER - The Dover Police Department and the Office of The Chief Medical Examiner are investigating two recent deaths in Dover that occurred over two days last week.

First, around 8:15 a.m. on Oct. 12, Dover Police went to a residence on Pleasant View Circle to check the welfare of Sherri Turmelle, 57, after a neighbor reported she had not been seen for some time. Responding officers discovered Turmelle's body in her residence.

Then around 4:05 p.m. on Oct. 13th, Dover Police, Fire and Rescue responded to James Seavey's residence on Western Avenue, after he was found unresponsive.

Seavey, 35, was subsequently declared dead at the scene.

While the cause and manner of both deaths will ultimately be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, based on the investigations to date they both appear to be drug related.

At this time, there is no known connection between the two deaths.

If in fact these deaths are confirmed to be drug overdoses, they will be the 10th and 11th confirmed in Dover in 2017, which had 12 suspected drug related deaths in 2016.

Meanwhile, the Dover Police Department has responded to 34 nonfatal drug overdoses this year.

These cases are being investigated by the Dover Police Department's Special Investigations Bureau. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Dover Police Department at 603-742-4646. Anonymous tips may be called into the Dover Crimeline at 603-749-6000.
