CONCORD - A Dover woman charged with DUI Wednesday night may well owe the arresting trooper her life after he prevented her from driving the wrong way on Interstate 93.

The incident unfolded around 9:25 p.m. while Sgt. Jeffrey Ardini was working an extra-duty construction detail on I-93 South in Concord.

As Ardini was monitoring traffic in the area, specifically in the area of the Exit 13 off ramp, he observed a vehicle traveling northbound, the wrong way, on the Exit 13 Southbound off ramp, approaching the southbound travel lanes.

Ardini quickly positioned his police vehicle across the off ramp blocking the approaching vehicle from entering the interstate's travel lanes.

After contact was made with the operator and lone occupant of the vehicle a brief investigation revealed that Sarah J. Davis, 46, of Dover, was operating her vehicle while under the influence. Davis was arrested and transported to the NHSP Troop D barracks. Once at the barracks, Davis refused all requested testing.

Davis was processed and released on a personal recognizance bail pending a later arraignment in Concord District Court.

Davis was charged with DUI, DUI subsequent and operating after suspension DWI.
