Drugs, loaded handguns seized during turnpike traffic stop

KENNEBUNK, Maine - Drugs and loaded guns were seized during a traffic stop on Interstate 95 in Kennebunk earlier this week, State Police reported on Friday.

A state trooper got involved on Wednesday around 10 p.m. when he stopped the vehicle for speeding in Kennebunk. The vehicle was a rental car and occupied by two juvenile males and two adult males.

Through the Trooper's investigation three loaded handguns were seized, two of which had rounds in the chambers. One of the handguns was reported stolen from Saco in a motor vehicle burglary.

Also seized from the vehicle was 18 grams of cocaine base (crack) and 2 grams of fentanyl.

Three of the occupants were arrested, police say.

After contacting juvenile probation one juvenile was released to a parent. One juvenile was transported to the Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland. After appearing in court Thursday morning they were to his parents on house arrest.

Abdulkadir Ahmed, 18, of Lewiston was transported to the York County Jail. He was charged with Felony Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm), class B crime. He was released Thursday on $5,000 cash bail.

The fourth occupant has not been charged at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
