ROCHESTER - Anyone who's been to a Recycled Percussion concert knows the feeling of kinetic energy and joy infused into every thing they do on stage.
And when Justin Spencer, the group's founder and drummer, opens Rochester's own Bad Brgr restaurant on April 11, he promises customers not only a great burger, but "an experience" and a party-like atmosphere like nowhere else.
Known for his philanthropy, Spencer said he'll come to the grand opening with a $1,000 check to help pay lunches for Rochester schoolchildren.
To add some extra excitement to the day he said he'll be hiding $1,000 somewhere in the city and hand out treasure maps to customers for their chance to claim the booty.
While working with his crew getting ready for the April 11 opening, Spencer told The Rochester Voice on Wednesday that eating at Bad Brgr's will mean much more than just enjoying a fantastic burger.
"It'll be an experience," he said. "What sets us apart is we're gonna have a stage for live music, we have free ski ball and video games for all ages and a whole candy store."
Bad Brgr has two restaurants in Manchester where Spencer grew up, but he said when he decided to open a third, he knew it would be Rochester.
"I chose Rochester personally," he grinned. "This restaurant is my brain child. I love Rochester. It's thriving and we have a great fan base here."
Recycled Percussion has been performing regularly at the Rochester Opera House for 10 years and also in Farmington in 2024. They have also played for years on the Las Vegas strip and nationally since 2001.
In 2017, Recycled Percussion started Chaos & Kindness, a television and web series that gives back to charitable causes in communities throughout New Hampshire.
Bad Brgr is located at the former site of New England Pizza at 195 Wakefield St. in the newly refurbished Lilac Plaza.
Bad Brgr's burgers run from $10-$14; they also have selections of sandwiches, fries and shakes.
The grand opening on April 11 begins at 11 a.m. and runs till 9 p.m.
