ROCHESTER - Earle B. Davis, 77, died peacefully Wednesday, May 31, 2017, in Wentworth-Douglas Hospital after a brief illness. He was born February 3, 1940, in South Berwick, Maine, son of Cecil and Dorothy (Earle) Davis. He lived in South Berwick for 10 years, until moving to North Berwick where he graduated high school.
Earle then served his country in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Norfolk, Va., serving from 1959-1964.
A welder by trade, Earle was also a jack of all trades, whether it be electrical, painting or just repairing any little thing, the "Busy Beaver", as he was fondly known, was always there to help.
Earle was an active 45 year member of the Rochester Elks BPOE #1393. He was selected Exalted Ruler from 1979-1980, selected as Elk of the year in years 2006 and 2009, and selected Officer of the year in 2016. Earle loved helping his community by raising funds for the Elks programs which benefit such things as the food pantry and Meals on Wheels.
Earle was predeceased by three brothers, Sonny, Ronnie and Gary Davis and sister Brenda Davis. He is survived by three children, Cindy Davis Messier and her husband Ben of North Berwick; Christopher M. Davis and his wife Chong and Kenneth Davis all of Berwick; two sisters, Sylda Hubert of North Berwick and Judy Grenier and husband Conrad of Sanford.
