ROCHESTER - Elaine T. Scott Bickford, 88, of Rochester, died on Feb. 13, 2023, after a brief illness, surrounded by her children. She was born in Laconia on March 22, 1934. to Joseph E. and Yvonne (Doyon) Belanger.

She attended St. John School in Laconia and graduated from Laconia High School in 1952. She graduated from Laconia Business College and took various courses during her career including the Paralegal program at the University of New Hampshire and a surveying course at Laconia Community College.

She worked at Scott & Williams in Laconia, Union Carbide Chemical Co. in Detroit Mich., and as a teacher's aide at the New Durham School. She then went to work as a real estate paralegal at Cooper, Hall & Walker in Rochester, and she worked in real estate research for the remainder of her career, including serving as researcher and adviser for Pease Development Authority in Portsmouth.

Elaine lived in New Durham for close to 40 years and during that time she started and headed a 4H Club and served on many boards and committees. She owned an antique shop, was active in a local square dancing group, and was an accomplished seamstress. After moving back to Laconia, she became active in the Historical and Museum society and volunteered to give tours of the Belknap Mills where her mother had worked. She had many interests including genealogy and was a member of the American Canadian Genealogical Society of Manchester for many years.

She is survived by four children; Stephen A. Walker (Deborah) of Kerrville, Texas, Leslie A. Caputo (Dean Hollatz) of Tenn., Jonathan D. Scott of New Durham, and Judith Pellowe (Jim Nash) of Barnstead; stepchildren Deborah E. Yurich (Steve) of Farmington and Robert E. Bickford, Jr (Robin) of New Durham, as well as grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by son Jeffrey A. Scott (Debra) of Melbourne, FL and her husband Robert E. Bickford Sr.
