ROCHESTER - A Maine woman was injured on Sunday when her vehicle crashed into an abutment at the Rochester Toll Plaza, went airborne and landed on an unoccupied tollbooth.

The crash occurred around 4:10 p.m. when Maine State Police say a 2018 Subaru Outback being driven by Joann McCollum-Hubbard, 73, of Acton, was traveling northbound and approaching the toll plaza when she lost control of the vehicle.

McCollum-Hubbard sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision and was transported to Frisbee Memorial Hospital for evaluation.

The Outback, which came to a final rest just north of the toll plaza, sustained heavy damage.

The Rochester toll plaza remained open to only one travel lane northbound for some six hours while personnel from NHDOT Bureau of Turnpikes replaced the toll booth and equipment.

At this time, the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Troopers from State Police Troop-A were assisted at the scene by Rochester Fire and EMS and the state Department of Transportation.

Anyone with information pertaining to this crash is asked to contact Sergeant Jesse Sherrill of the New Hampshire State Police, Troop-A Barracks at (603)679-3333 or Jesse.Sherrill@dos.nh.gov.
