Electric bikes shouldn't go against the traffic, which in this case was me

Before someone gets injured in a crash that doesn't have to happen, let's get one thing straight.
Pedestrians while walking on a roadway are supposed to walk against the traffic, but bicyclists aren't.
Bicyclists, including those on electric bikes, are supposed to ride WITH the traffic, on the right near the shoulder.
However, there are some folks on electric bikes that are not following the rules. They are riding against the traffic.
I found this out the scary way, when recently I was on my motorcycle riding through Rochester.
I was on a shady road with a heavy canopy of trees causing plenty of shadows on the roadway in the bright sun.
All of a sudden, whoosh, an electric bike speeds by going against the traffic.
They couldn't have been more than a couple of feet to my right. It startled me. Luckily, I didn't flinch, but if the electric bike had been closer, I might have instinctively leaned to the left, going more toward the center line.
When the bikes are riding with the traffic it's easy to slow down and make sure you can pass them safely. But when they're going against the traffic it's not.
Consider this: If I'm going 40 mph and a rider on an electric bike is coming toward me at 30 mph that's a combined speed of 70 mph. Now if they're only a couple of feet away, yeah, that could make you flinch for sure.
And flinching on a bike is never a good thing.
Class I and II electric bikes have a top speed of 20 mph, but Class III bikes can go 30 mph.
So, whomever is doing this, I'll channel President Biden who would simply say, "Don't."

Ugh, that probably won't work with the kids, either.
