ROCHESTER - Getting around Rochester on Thursday was even rough on vehicles with four-wheel drive.

Any other motorists were at the whim of random snow ridges that pocked intersections around the city, from the corner of Farmington and Little Falls roads to Milton Road's entrance to the Lilac Mall.

And once you got to the Ridge or Lilac malls the plows could barely keep up with the daylong snow leaving parking spaces treacherous traps for vehicles unsuited for such conditions.

Thankfully, even with the dozens of motorists who careened into a snowbank or slid off a shoulder, Rochester saw no serious accidents, medical transports or reported injuries, Rochester Police Capt. Todd Pinkham said today.

"Overall it was really not that bad considering the conditions," said Pinkham, who said police responded to three accidents and a dozen vehicles either off the road or into a snowbank.

Thursday's storm left the area with anywhere from 1-2 feet of fluffy snow thankfully unlike the moisture-laden snow of two weeks ago. No more snow is in the forecast till Christmas, according to Accuweather meteorologists.

Rochester DPW's Highway and Fleet Supervisor Ken Henderson was not immediately available to comment for this report.
