Exhibit at Franklin Gallery features diverse outlook by pair of shutterbugs

ROCHESTER - The Franklin Gallery at RiverStones Custom Framing, 33 N. Main Street in Rochester, will host an exhibit during the month of December called Shadows & Light in Black & White vs In Living Color, featuring the work of local photographers Steve Brown and Lisa Shurtleff. An opening reception will be held on Dec. 7, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served and the public is invited to attend.

Lisa Shurtleff lives in Strafford on the shores of Bow Lake. She began her journey with photography in earnest in 2015 when she received her first DSLR camera, and took several classes as well as workshops, increasing her knowledge and love of photography.

"The workshops introduced me to more than just photographing landscapes, wildlife and flowers," she said. "I have found that I really love photographing new things and pushing myself out of my comfort zone to become a better photographer. Additionally, photography is my way to relax, forget all that life throws at you and just enjoy myself."

Steve Brown is a self taught photographer who took up the craft while living in Montana during the early '80s. After retiring is 2011, he started a new venture as a landscape photographer.

"I enjoy photographing covered bridges, light houses, old barns, churches, and wildlife, or just about anything else I happen to find along the way," he noted.

Brown is a member of the National Society for the Preservation of Covered Bridges. His photography has been displayed in the Glickman Library, the Azure Art Gallery, the Gafney Library, Wakefield Inn, the Lynn Museum, as well as the Franklin Gallery.
