Farmington man gets nearly four years in fentanyl trafficking case

CONCORD - A Farmington man was sentenced to 46 months in federal prison for conspiracy to possess fentanyl with intent to distribute and possession of fentanyl with the intent to distribute, the U.S. Attorneys Office announced on Thursday.

According to court documents and statements made in court, on June 30, 2018, an individual who was cooperating with law enforcement officers advised that Randy Stevens, 29, planned to travel from Rochester to the Lawrence, Mass., area in a pickup truck to purchase a large quantity of fentanyl. Later the same day, law enforcement officers observed the truck travel from Rochester to a liquor store in Lawrence.

After the vehicle returned to New Hampshire, it was stopped by the New Hampshire State Police for a traffic violation. Stevens was a passenger in the vehicle. After a narcotics detection dog alerted troopers to the presence of narcotics in the truck, 269.3 grams of fentanyl were recovered.

Stevens pleaded guilty on Aug. 2.
