CONCORD - A Farmington man pleaded guilty on Friday to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute fentanyl and a second possession and trafficking charge.

According to court testimony and documents, on June 30, 2018, an individual who was cooperating with law enforcement advised them that Randy Stevens, 29, planned to travel from Rochester to the Lawrence, Mass., area in a pickup truck to purchase a large quantity of fentanyl. Later that day, law enforcement officers observed the truck travel from Rochester to a liquor store in Lawrence.

After the vehicle returned to New Hampshire, it was stopped by the New Hampshire State Police for a traffic violation. Stevens was a passenger in the vehicle. A narcotics detection dog then was brought in and alerted officers to the presence of narcotics in the truck; some 269.3 grams of fentanyl were recovered.

In another incident brought forward in court, on the evening of June 2, 2018, a Kingston police officer conducted a traffic stop of a motorcycle that Stevens was operating on Route 125. Stevens provided the officer with a false name and the officer later recovered 42 grams of fentanyl from the motorcycle.

Stevens is scheduled to be sentenced in November.
