ROCHESTER - A Farmington woman was arrested for drunken driving after her car careened of Old Dover Road and crashed into a utility pole in front of the city's public works building early today.

Katlyn Swain, 20, was charged with felony-level aggravated DWI in the crash which occurred around 3:20 a.m.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the 2003 Hyundai Tiburon she was driving was traveling northbound on Old Dover Road when it failed to negotiate a right-hand bend in the roadway just south of the Rochester Public Works building at 45 Old Dover Road.

Swain's vehicle crossed over the southbound lane, exited the roadway, and struck a utility pole in front of the public works building, police said.

Swain, the lone occupant, suffered serious but nonlife-threatening injuries and was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital.

Police said Swain was not wearing her seat belt, and the airbags deployed.

The vehicle suffered heavy damage, and the pole was broken in several places. The accident also forced the closing of the roadway for a brief period of time.

Swain was released on $5,000 personal recognizance bail pending an arraignment later this month in Strafford County Superior Court.
