DOVER - a Farmington woman remains hospitalized today after she was shot by police during an encounter following a high-speed chase on Route 16 near the Dover-Rochester line early on Sunday.
The incident unfolded around 1:30 a.m. when State Police attempted to make a traffic stop on a southbound car being driven by Moriah Infinjer, 28, of Farmington.
Infinjer refused to stop and accelerated to speeds of around 100 mph leading to a high-speed pursuit, according to a press release from the Attorney General's Office sent out on Sunday,
Eventually, State Police troopers were able to deploy deployed a spike strip and the vehicle was stopped.
During a subsequent encounter with a trooper after the car was stopped, the trooper fired his weapon striking Infinger who was taken to a hospital with what were described as nonlife threatening injuries.
Infinjer has been charged with multiple offenses, including felony reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, disobeying a police officer, resisting arrest, criminal threatening and two counts of reckless operation.
The investigation by the New Hampshire Department of Justice into the shooting is ongoing, and the identity of the trooper using deadly force will not be disclosed until a formal interview takes place sometime next week.
