TROCHESTER - he Rochester Recreation Department recently hosted the annual Fast Break Challenge, a weekend-long tournament that has been a basketball staple in Rochester for more than a decade.

This year, 19 5th- and 6th-grade travel teams participated from all over southern New Hampshire and Maine. The challenge culminated in 3 championship games: The East Kingston Stingers defeated Exeter in the Boys' B Division, Exeter defeated Seabrook in the Boys' A Division, and Stratham defeated Wolfeboro in the Girls' Division.

According to Marketing Program Coordinator Nicole Lee, the Fast Break Challenge is a fund-raiser for the Spaulding Highschool Boys' Basketball Boosters.

"It's made possible through the hard work of high school players, coaches, and parents," she said. "The Recreation Department is proud to host this tournament year after year. It gives kids from all over the chance to play basketball, develop their skills, and make lifelong memories."

This year, the SHS Boys' Basketball Boosters raised around $3,000.
