CONCORD - The state Fire Marshal's Office is investigating an early morning fire at a Concord home that claimed the life of a Concord man.
First responders got involved around 3:30 a.m. today after receiving calls for a medical alert.
When they arrived at 2 Rhodora Court they found smoke coming out the front door and began an immediate search, where they found an adult male deceased on one floor of the home and an adult female who was found sleeping and rescued from another floor of the home.
The name of the deceased victim is being withheld pending an autopsy scheduled at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner today. The surviving victim is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
Investigators with the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal's Office have responded to the scene. Their preliminary investigation has determined there were no working smoke alarms on the floor of the home where the fire started.
The New Hampshire State Fire Marshal's Office, Concord Fire Department and the Concord Police Department are actively investigating the origin and cause of the fire. State Fire Marshal Toomey reminds all Granite State residents of the importance of having working smoke alarms in their homes. Homeowners should ensure they have alarms installed and test them regularly to ensure they are working properly. In the event of an alarm activation or visible smoke or fire, residents should immediately exit their home and call 911.
