Fireworks ordinance, drainage project among issues on tap for Town Meeting votes

Several local communities will be concluding their annual town meeting sessions on Tuesday by going to the polls to vote for those seeking public office and to decide on various town funding and legislative issues.

In Farmington, residents will be voting to elect two selectmen out of a field of five including David Connolly, Kennety Dickie Jr., TJ Place, Douglas Staples and Ann Titus.
Voting at the polls on Tuesday will be followed by a traditional Town Meeting on Wednesday beginning at 7 p.m., both at the old town hall on Main Street.

On Wednesday Farmington voters will weigh in on a town operating budget of $7.1 million and a schools budget of $16.5 million.

They'll also vote on citizens petitions to determine if the town adopts noise and fireworks ordinances, both opposed by the Board of Selectmen.

Tuesday voting goes from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

In Strafford voters will decide whether to change the makeup of the planning board from elected to appointed members.

They'll also vote on the purchase of a new police vehicle and a three-way race for a single selectmen's seat sought by Daniel Kern, Kerry McMahon and Donald Coker.

Voting gets under way at 8 a.m. at the Strafford Town Hall. Polls close at 7

p.m.

Meanwhile, Barrington voters will give thumbs up or down to a $7.2 million dollar town operating budget and decide on a three-way selectmen's race between Dannen D. Mannschreck, Clifton West Jr. and Michael D. Houst.

They'll also have before them a request to buy a $32,000 ultra-terrain vehicle for rescue operations. The money would not be disbursed unless the Barrington Firefighter's Association donates 50 percent ($16,000) of the cost.

Barrington polls will be open at the Barrington Middle School from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

And in Milton, voters will decide on a $349,329 project to clean up drainage issues in the Dawson and Silver Street area.

They'll also vote on whether to spend $5,000 for repair of the boat ramp at the Town Beach.

Also to be decided is a two-way selectmen's race between Claudine Burnham and Humphrey Williams.

Milton voters can cast their ballots at Nute High from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
