SOUTH LEBANON, Maine - The old Double G Tack and Feed shop in South Lebanon will be reborn today as Southern Maine's newest - and perhaps biggest - antique shop and indoor flea market.

Pennies on the Dolla LLC, is less than a mile east of East Rochester, N.H., on Route 202, and owner Bob Welch is hoping folks will come from both states looking for a bargain.

Welch and his wife, Michelle, aren't newcomers to the flea market community. They've operated their own booth at a flea market up in Oxford for many years.

"We decided to try our own," he said recently.

Welch said he will have well over 30 vendors when the shop opens today and wants to have 100 more by July.

The biggest thing visitors will notice about this flea market is the cleanliness.

Welch said the 8,000 square foot building will be well-lighted and cleaned daily.

Some of the vendors that will occupy booths include an alpaca farm, woodworking crafters and candle makers. There will also be a lot of antiques and appliances, he said.

Pennies on the Dolla will be open Thursday-Saturday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday and Monday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The address is 1607 Carl Broggi Hwy (Route 202) in South Lebanon.
