Franklin standoff ends with fatal shooting by police

­­­­­­FRANKLIN - A standoff in Franklin ended with a fatal police shooting early today.

The incident involved an adult male resident and members of the New Hampshire State Police SWAT Team which had been directed to a residence for a report of a barricaded suspect following an armed disturbance in the area.

According to a statement from the state's Dept. of Safety, the disturbance triggered a shelter-in-place order for residents in the area of Central and West Bow streets in Franklin.

Despite life saving measures taken by first responsders, the resident died. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

An autopsy will be scheduled by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Pursuant to protocol, the names of the officers involved in the incident are being withheld pending the conclusion of formal interviews.
