SOMERSWORTH - A fugitive of justice wanted on a parole violation was arrested on Sunday in Somersworth.

Jason William Chapman, 49, a former Fugitive of the Week, failed to stay in touch with his parole officer on an underlying conviction of Burglary.

Chapman was highlighted as the Department of Correction's Fugitive of the Week on March 27.

On Sunday Somersworth Police officers pulled over a vehicle in which Chapman was a passenger. Recognizing Chapman from the FOW posting, officers approached the situation with caution. Initially Chapman provided a false name, however, officers identified him through distinctive tattoos, prompting Chapman to admit his identity.

Chapman was taken into custody without incident and is being held at Strafford County Jail pending a court appearance.

The Fugitive of the Week program was launched by the Department of Corrections in March of last year to encourage public assistance in locating individuals who have absconded from supervision.
