Fugitive with Lebanon ties gives self up after hearing he was fugitive of week

A fugitive from justice with ties to Lebanon was arrested today in Florida.

Keith Wayne Russell, 43, surrendered to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office in Newport Richey.

Russell, who is said to have family, friends and associates in Lebanon, had been wanted on an arrest warrant issued by the Strafford County Superior Court for failure to appear on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (vehicle).

Shortly after being featured as the "Fugitive of the Week" this past Wednesday, several tips were received indicating that Russell was in the Hudson, Fla., area. This information was sent to the Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Florida.

Today, prior to the task force being available to attempt to locate him, he called the U.S. Marshal's Office here in New Hampshire, stating that he had heard he was featured as the "Fugitive of the Week" and wanted to surrender.

Arrangements to surrender were made between Russell and the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, where he was taken into custody.

He will be processed and detained at the Pasco County Jail where he will be held until he attends a court hearing to determine if he should be held without bail or allowed to report to New Hampshire on his own.

Russell had been featured as the "Fugitive of the Week" just this past Wednesday which was later featured on WTPL-FM, WMUR-TV, The Union Leader, The Nashua Telegraph, The Patch and The Lebanon Voice.
