Garrison Players auditions for 'Voices of the Titanic' begin next Tuesday

ROLLINSFORD - Auditions for Garrison Players' "Voices of the Titanic" are scheduled for next Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and April 11 from noon-2 p.m., both at Garrison Players Arts Center, Corner of Roberts Road and Portland Ave (Rte 4), Rollinsford.

Auditioners will read sides from the play, as well as participating in a brief singing demonstration. Resumes and headshots welcome but not required.

In the play, the stage comes alive with passengers and crew of the Titanic, speaking to us directly about the disaster. We see the magnificent vessel through the eyes of both the first-class and third-class passengers. When Frederick Fleet spots the iceberg, all the officers are called upon to carry out the most dreaded command Captain Smith ever had to issue: "Get the lifeboats ready!"

Show dates are June 19-21 and June 26-28

Titania, Spirit of the Titanic: ethereal creature who serves as a narrator and guide - any age

Shipbuilder, Sailor, Rescuer (composite role): Male - any age - Irish, English, Canadian

Captain Edward Smith - Captain of The Titanic: Male 40+ - English - white beard a big plus

Bruce Ismay - Chairman of the White Star Line: English - Male - 40+

Isidor Straus - First-class passenger: Male - 50+ - slight German accent

Ida Straus - his wife: Female - 50+ - heavier German accent

John Jacob Astor - richest man in America: Male - 40s

Madeleine Astor - his wife: Female - 18

Margaret Brown - the "Unsinkable Molly Brown": Female - 40s

Ellen Mockler - Irish immigrant: Female - 20s

Hannah Naughton - Irish immigrant: Female -20s

Harold Bride - Telegraph operator: Male - 20s - English
